Read this before connecting any bank account.
Spent is open-source software provided to you free of charge. By installing and using it, you agree to the following.
Spent automates websites you don’t own
Section titled “Spent automates websites you don’t own”Spent works by automating your bank’s website on your behalf, using credentials you provide. This is functionally similar to “scraping”: it logs in, navigates the same pages a human would, and reads the data shown to you. The bank does not know it’s an automated tool.
Banks may restrict this in their terms
Section titled “Banks may restrict this in their terms”Some Israeli banks include clauses in their terms of service that prohibit, restrict, or require permission for automated access to your account. You are responsible for reading your bank’s terms and deciding whether using Spent is appropriate for your situation. The Spent project does not negotiate with banks on your behalf and does not warrant compatibility with any bank’s terms.
If your bank’s terms forbid automated access and you use Spent anyway, the consequences are yours to deal with. Possible (rare but real) consequences include account suspension, fraud-flag locks, or termination of the customer relationship.
Spent never moves money
Section titled “Spent never moves money”Spent is read-only. It does not, and cannot, transfer funds, pay bills, place orders, or change any settings inside your bank account. It only reads transaction data the bank’s website would already show you.
Spent does not provide investment advice, financial planning, tax preparation, or any other regulated financial service.
No warranty
Section titled “No warranty”Spent is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The maintainers and contributors are not liable for:
- Any loss of access to bank accounts.
- Any incorrect or missing transaction data shown by the app.
- Any financial decisions you make based on Spent’s output.
- Any breach of contract between you and your bank.
- Any data loss or theft, including from your own computer being compromised.
Not affiliated with any bank
Section titled “Not affiliated with any bank”Spent is an independent open-source project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any of the banks listed as supported. Bank names, logos, and brand colors are used solely for navigational clarity and remain the property of their respective owners.
Your data, your responsibility
Section titled “Your data, your responsibility”Spent stores everything on your computer, encrypted with a key generated locally (see Security & privacy). However, no encryption protects you from:
- Losing the encryption key file.
- Sharing your computer with someone who has your local user password.
- Backing up the data without proper care.
- Malware on your computer.
You are responsible for the security of your own machine.
